The standard fee for a wedding at Saint Agnes’ is $1200. This includes fees for the Celebrant, flowers, the organist, document preparation, the Verger, and use of the building on the wedding day and a prior rehearsal. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is payable in advance to secure the booking. The balance of $1100 is payable to two weeks prior to the ceremony taking place.

All couples are encouraged to undertake a marriage preparation course. Saint Agnes’ will provide information on local programs. Participation is not mandatory.

Can I be Married at Saint Agnes’ if I am Divorced?

The Anglican Church teaches that marriage is a lifelong union, however recognises that relationships can break down irreconcilably. In certain cases, with the permission of the Bishop, divorcees can be remarried in church. The Vicar is happy to discuss this with couples and can guide them through the process.

Church Bell

Saint Agnes’ has a lovely English bell in the church tower that is rung at the arrival of the bride and when the couple leaves the church.

Photography During the Service

To ensure the dignity of the occasion, photographers are asked not to distract the bridal party or obscure the view of family and friends. Videos are permitted at a discreet distance and without additional lighting. Saint Agnes’ has worked with many photographers and is pleased to recommend professional photographers it knows will provide excellent results at a reasonable price.

Flowers and Ribbons

The flowers in the Church are wonderfully arranged by members of the Sanctuary Guild. The cost of flowers is included in the fee for the wedding. Additional flowers can be arranged. If a specific colour or variety of flowers is desired then we will endeavour to meet your request. The seating at Saint Agnes’ is flexible so that ribbons can only be tied to the ends of chairs, by your own arrangement.

Can Someone From Outside Saint Agnes’ Conduct the Wedding?

The Vicar normally officiates at weddings. Clergy of other traditions are welcome to assist. The Celebrant must be an Anglican Priest.

Confetti and Rice

Confetti is not permitted in the church building or on the front steps. Rose petals are fine. Rice can be hazardous!

Government Requirements

All weddings have to comply with the regulations in the Commonwealth Marriage Act. There are forms to be filled out and preparations made. The Celebrant for your wedding will guide you through the preparation of the relevant documentation. Notice of Intended Marriage Form.

Church Requirements

Marriage in the Anglican Church requires that at least one partner be baptised. Saint Agnes’ is happy to advise individuals and couples on preparation for baptism, where this is desired.

Saint Agnes’ is located close to some of Melbourne’s finest Receptions Centres. The Vicar can provide advice on suitable venues close to the church.
